Walden Pond in Historic Concord, Massachusetts
Step back in time to the mid-1800’s. Connect with nature that inspired Henry David Thoreau’s “Walden”. Swim, walk and boat in and around a 102-foot deep pond created by a melted glacier. Tour a replica of Thoreau’s cabin and hike to the spot where the original was located. Walden Pond is famous for Henry David Thoreau’s experiment with nature. Having built a cabin on the pond and lived there for two years observing and documenting plants, animals, geology and climate as well as interactions with local folks from and around town. Later on these notes would form the core of his work “Walden”.
